Musicals are performed all around the world. They may be presented in large venues, such as big budget West End and Broadway theatre productions in London and New York City, or in smaller fringe theatre, Off-Broadway or regional productions, on tour, or by amateur groups in schools, theatres and other performance spaces.
In addition to Britain and North America, there are vibrant musical theatre scenes in many countries in Europe, Latin America, Australasia and Asia.
Its programming will be extremely diverse from workshops, lectures and training programmes to theatre, music, dance and digital multi-media.
Musicals featured this year are 'Me and My Girl', 'Fame', 'Guys and Dolls', 'West Side Story' and 'Vampires Rock'. Other main features are 'The Fureys with Davey Arthur', 'The World Goes 'Round', 'The Good Old Days', 'Clive Baldwin sings Jolson', 'A Johann Straus Gala', and tributes to The Eagles, Roy Orbison, and Billie Holiday

The site of The Civic was originally opened as a public hall for the people of Barnsley, but the building has been home to almost every important institution within Barnsley. During its lifetime, it has been used as the town’s college, library, and was even the venue for the screening of the first talking film in the town.
